Hilkiah was the high priest who found the Book of the Law while the temple was being repaired. When Josiah heard it, he realized how far the nation had drifted from God.
Josiah did not argue with the text or look for a teacher who could soften it. He humbled himself, gathered the people, removed the idols, restored true worship, and followed the Lord wholeheartedly.
The problem was not that God had failed to speak. The problem was that His people had stopped listening.
The burden behind Hilkiah Revival first took shape in a book compiled by Mike Lum. More than ninety percent of it is Scripture—hundreds of passages about righteousness, obedience, perseverance, and the transforming work of God. The point was never, “Take my word for it.” The point was, “Look at all of these verses and decide whether your theology accounts for them.”
That same approach guides this fellowship. Read the Bible cover to cover. Read difficult passages in the light of everything around them. Listen to good teachers, but never let a commentary overrule the plain text. The Holy Spirit who inspired Scripture is able to help ordinary believers understand it.
We are not claiming that sincere Christians will agree on every passage. We are saying that no tradition, movement, or respected teacher is above examination. That includes us.
